NMO Mount Assembly

Assembling an NMO Mount

NMO mounts may be bought pre-assembled with a 12-18 foot run of coax attached.  Sometimes you may want to use your own coax.  In that case, you can purchase just the NMO mount and assemble the mount yourself.  There is sufficient space on the mounts to perform a test fit of the coax before soldering.  The amount of trimming varies depending on mount manufacturer.

Assembling an N connector using LMR-240 Ultraflex

Attention:

It's been brought to my attention that this actually shows you how to not-assemble an N connector.  The gasket and clamp are backwards!

See the Amphenol Assembly Instructions.

Thank you to W0JT for pointing out the error of my ways.  We'll have a new and improved guide with photos showing the process shortly

Overview

This document describes the way I (WQ3C) assemble N connectors on RG-8x (LMR-240) sized coax.  This may not be exactly the "textbook" method, but I've found this to be very efficient and durable.  The parts in this tutorial were ordered from Tessco.  Several club members have accounts with Tessco and their accountholder pricing is very competitive (however, there is a $50 minimum purchase).

Announcing Antenna & Hardware Days!

Field Day 2012 Summary

Mike, KI4RIX, hosted a Field Day gathering at his QTH. We operated
using my callsign, WQ3C.

Our initial plan was a 4A operation with 80m-70cm.

We had the K4KDJ's FT-897 attached to a full-size G5RV
My FT-857 attached to a Jr. G5RV
KK4DZZ's FT-897 attached to a Buddistick vertical
K4KDJ's FT-847 was connected to a 2m skeleton slot.

We were planning on erecting a second G5RV Jr. to attach to K4KDJ's
FT-847, in addition to a 6m delta loop. The G5RV Jr never made it up,
and we ended up running 6m on the FT-857 with its G5RV Jr.

Website upgrade - Drupal 7

First post on Drupal 7, our old software was 4.5 years old. We lost the old database in the process, but I think we can manage.
