VTARA provides direct service to the university as needed. We can operate from the station in Squires or the National Weather Service office, or portable at any location on campus. We also provide backup support to Montgomery County ARES.
All members of the university community should subscribe to VT Alerts for critical emergency communication. More info here.
In the event of an emergency on campus, VT Alerts should be activated, and the campus siren system may sound. All licensed amateurs should follow the procedures below as soon as possible.
In the event of an emergency on campus or in the community, monitor the following frequencies for a VTARA net or other instructions/updates:
- 146.715 (- offset, no tone) - repeater on Brush Mountain
- 146.715 simplex - in the case of repeater failure (be sure to transmit SIMPLEX)
- 146.55 simplex - VTARA Auxillary Simplex
